Roux-en-y
What is it?
The Roux-en-y is the most common gastric bypass configuration.
How is it done?
The smaller stomach pouch is reconnected, not to the upper small intestine, as is the stomach in the normal configuration of the digestive system, but directly to the middle portion of the small intestine, forming a y-shaped configuration.
How does it work?
Food bypasses the bigger, lower stomach and the upper portion of the small intestine.
